From Our Community

VITA resolution in government

“It’s just so rewarding when you help people who need help doing their taxes. Sometimes it’s a matter of life and death. If they don’t get their proper refund back, that’s what they rely on to get them through the whole year. I’m really proud. I’ll be coming back as long as I can walk.”

“United Way’s VITA program is a cornerstone of our community’s well-being and helps hardworking families access crucial tax credits and put more money back in their pockets. The network of volunteer tax preparers is an invaluable part of building up our fellow community members’ financial stability and a stronger Santa Barbara County for everyone.”

- Laura Capps, Chair of Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors

“We love living here and love being a part of this community. With United Way’s help, we’re able to make it work. It means a lot to me to be able to raise my family here in Santa Barbara. It’s a beautiful place, but it’s extremely difficult to be able to keep up with the cost of living, just the basics. To pay the mortgage, for groceries, childcare, it’s almost impossible. Both of my children are enrolled in preschool, and the scholarship helped us afford the costs of these tuitions.”
